Our stylists’ favourite new arrivals

The smell of apple crisp and pumpkin spice in the air can only mean one thing: it’s time for our stylists’ to reveal their favourite new arrivals for autumn. And yes, it was especially hard for each of them to narrow the styles down to just one this time around. Tell a stylist to choose between a textured knit and a pair of chunky work boots, and things get testy. But they managed to get through it, and their picks are plumpest-pumpkin-in-the-patch good – just don’t ask them to narrow down the list any further.

Arlen Cotton Terry Sweatshirt

“This sweatshirt has a great slightly slouchy fit and an incredible bright red colour that would really pop under a coat or worn with some neutral pieces – it stands out without being too fashion,'' says stylist Millie Rich.

Tiger of Sweden Ossien Jacket

“I love a field coat, especially when it's modelled on the classic 1960’s American design like this one. It’s got all the right details, like flap pockets and the hidden hood from the original, but it’s updated in a more contemporary fit with a technical water resistant fabric. A great all-rounder,” says Thread stylist Alexander McCalla.

Photographed: Tretorn Racket 61 Suede Trainers ($126)

Tretorn Racket 61 Suede Trainers

“This shape from Tretorn recalls mid-century tennis trainers with its scuff protecting panels, but it’s been done in a really lush suede to make it a bit smarter, and the off-white colour is perfect for jeans or chinos,” says stylist Luke McDonald.

United Colors of Benetton Wool Sweater

“Benetton’s speciality is wool jumpers, and this multi-stripe design is a knockout. It’s punchy but also should keep you warm as it’s in a good weight of 100% shetland wool,” says Thread stylist Brooke Philips.

The Workers Club Shirt Jacket

“The Workers Club makes some of the best outerwear I’ve ever seen, and this new design is exceptional. It comes in an orange brown check that they’ve had woven for them by the famed Lovat mill in Scotland, and it has a slightly oversized fit that’s bang on trend. Wear it as a light layer under a coat or as an easy to throw on jacket over a t-shirt or knit,” says stylist Toby Standing.

Hugo Boss Flannel Slim Drawstring Trouser

“Flannel is probably the classiest winter fabric – it's got a great soft hand-feel and a texture that resembles a smoother moleskin. And while it’s usually the sort of thing you see used for cricket whites or very classic navy suits, Hugo Boss has updated it in a pair of drawstring trousers that are smart but by no means stuffy,” says stylist Freddie Kemp.
