The history of Clarks is as fable-like as they come – it all began nearly 200 years ago with a slipper made from sheepskin cut-offs. Today, the British brand is more known for its innovatively constructed leather and suede shoes, but the same level of craftsmanship lives on. In fact, each pair of shoes begins with a last carved by hand from a single block of hornbeam.

Clarks is adopting a more circular approach to shoemaking. As part of this process, it’s working to ensure the materials it uses are environmentally conscious. Currently, over 90% of its leather is sourced from Gold, Silver and Bronze rated tanneries. It also has a partnership with UNICEF partnership that has diverted 1700 tonnes of shoes from landfill.
