About the brand

Basic Rights

Ever wondered what a rockstar-designed clothing line would look like? Cue Basic Rights. The brand is the brainchild of The Vaccines’ lead guitarist, Freddie Cowan, and it was born out of his relentless search to find the perfect t-shirt, or the perfect pair of trousers. Since then, he’s made it his mission to create those ‘perfect’ items – all with a cool ‘50s vibe and sustainability underpinning its design.

Basic Rights doesn’t do mass production. Instead, it creates small batches, using end-of-roll, deadstock, or recycled fabrics where possible. And thanks to its partnership with Trees for the Future, each item sold results in one tree being planted.
