The 301 last was developed for our Anniversary collection in 2016 and is derived from an original "Joystep" style from the 1930's. The shape was described at the time as Orthopedic, what it means is a natural shape that is designed for comfort - but it looks good too with a vintage feel to the shape. Quentin is our mens derby shoe with a difference, he has as large single piece vamp and slotted facings which are exaggerated in length to give a vintage look. Here he is in our classic black calf leather with natural wicking linings and has small top eyelets. He is made with a channeled sole, meaning that the welt stitch is buried in the leather sole, he has a rolled waist and elegant tonal single leather sole.
Oxford and Derby shoes are usually fairly formal styles, but there are now variations available to suit both formal and casual dress. They may be similar styles, but they can be differentiated by their distinct details around the lacing area: the Derby has an 'open front' while the Oxford's is 'closed'.
