The only thing better than t-shirt weather is owning the right kind of t-shirt to wear in said weather. Because as simple as the garment may be, finding the one that’s breathable, lightweight, and fits you well is not always as easy as the vibe you’re going for. That’s why our stylists are here to help. They’ve already given their two cents on white tees in their comprehensive guide, but during this go, they’re rounding up six of their favourite colourful alternatives. It is the warm-weather season, after all, so your reasons to wear a Breton stripe and a pink pastel top are multiplying by the minute.

1. Colorful Standard Classic Organic Tee

Colorful Standard tees have been gracing the screens of many a Thread Zoom call as of late. Why? They’re pre-washed, so they already have that lived-in feel, and the brand is all about simple, uncomplicated pieces that are made to last. The brand also exclusively makes sustainable pieces, and this one is made from 100% organic cotton, meaning the cotton is grown without genetically modified seeds. This tee comes in practically every colour imaginable, but we’re loving this shade of faded pink .

2. Arlen Midweight Crewneck Tee

If you want to brighten up your look this summer, why not do it in a bright blue shirt? When we tested the white version of this Arlen tee on several guys in our office last year, this fit was the unanimous favourite – it has a high neck, mid-weight fabric, and slightly boxy fit that everyone seemed to love. It also lands in the mid-price range but has a premium feel. If you tend to like a slimmer fit, you’d be wise to size down.

3. Oliver Spencer Striped Tee

If you’re looking for a multi-stripe that feels more modern than your classic Breton, this style by Oliver Spencer may just be the one for you. What’s great about a tee like this is it makes a statement by doing very little, so you can throw it on with your go-to shorts and still feel like you’ve made an effort. The brand has put a great emphasis on sustainability in the past few years, and as part of that, they use organic cotton, which is better for the environment.

4. Spun Organic Cotton T-shirt

If you want a shirt that truly brightens up your summer look, it’s hard to find a better option than this lightweight yellow tee from Spun – our new sustainable brand. It’s made from organic cotton, which uses 91% less water and 62% less energy than non-organic materials. And it looks really good while saving all that energy, especially when paired with navy shorts and boat shoes.

5. Selected Homme Recycled Organic Cotton T-shirt

No colour quite nails a laid-back coastal vibe like a lobster bisque red. This tee by Danish brand Selected Homme is complete with a pocket tee and drapey fit that make it great for lazy weekends. Sizes run slightly slimmer, so it may be worth going up a size.

6. Armor Lux Wide-Stripe Tee

If you’re looking for that classic Breton stripe, you’d be smart to turn to the brand that nails stripes over and over again: Armor Lux. This one is complete with bold orange and white stripes – a nice departure from your standard blue and white – which have that signature nautical feel. It’s also made with a cotton-linen blend that lends it extra breathability for all those balmy days ahead.
