Our stylists' favourite new arrivals for peak summer

Our stylists' favourite new arrivals for peak summer

A wealth of great new menswear lands on site pretty often here at Thread, so it can be hard to keep track of the latest and greatest. And unlike the aimless scroll you’ll experience elsewhere, our algorithm will always show you styles we think you’ll love first.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t love seeing what’s on our stylists’ wish lists – they never disappoint. With that in mind, we asked four of our stylists to pick out their favourite new arrivals for summer. And yes, they’re either in their basket or already dispatched and on the way to them.

Jersey-Panelled Organic Cotton-Pique Shirt by Mr P.

“This shirt is giving me serious Talented Mr Ripley vibes, (which as we all know is the eternal summer moodboard). The cotton-pique fabrication makes it a nicely breathable style which I always look for in the warmer months. And the pockets by the hem give the shirt a real vintage feel – and since 90% of my clothes are secondhand, this is right up my street. Plus, it’s versatile enough that I could wear it open for the ultimate laid-back layer, or buttoned up for a slightly more put-together look.

Ballroom Logo-Embroidered Cotton-Twill Baseball Cap by MUSEUM OF PEACE & QUIET

“I’m a big hat guy anytime of year, but when it comes to summer I like to go for a ‘I work at a gas station in a David Lynch Movie’ kind of look, and this hat truly nails that souvenir meets truck-shop merch kind of aesthetic, and this bold Kelly green is one of my favourite shades right now.”

Recycled Hi-Top Trainers by ANYDAY John Lewis & Partners

“You just can’t beat a fresh pair of canvas high-tops come warm-weather season. They’re timeless, comfortable, stylish, and complete any summer look with ease. These ones have a vintage-inspired plimsole design which gives them that cool retro vibe – not to mention, they’re a steal pricewise.”

Seersucker Swim Shorts by Arket

“If you’re over wearing a plain pair of swim shorts, but also not quite into a neon Hawaiian iteration, a good striped pair always feels like a happy medium. The best part is these can be easily styled both poolside with some sliders or on warmer weekends with a white linen shirt and the canvas trainers I mentioned earlier.”

Tie-dyed Cotton T-shirt by Manatstash

“I don’t think there’s been a day in the last 20 years where I haven’t worn a t-shirt. My go-tos tend to have a large graphic print or a bit of typography, but the subtle balance of colour on this tie-dye number made my neck snap. It’s vivid without being overpowering, giving it the versatility to work with jeans, chinos, or shorts, and will definitely break the mould of my usual rotation.”

Nike Air Kukini in Leopard Print

“The Kukini is one of my all time favourite silhouettes. Originally released in 2000 as part of Nike’s Alpha Project label, this lightweight bobby dazzler is back and in an awesome leopard print. I plan on wearing them with a plain short-sleeve shirt and a relaxed pair of short shorts.”

Relaxed-Fit Short Sleeved Striped Shirt by COS

“There’s nothing more I love in summer than that ‘cool Grandad’ aesthetic, and this relaxed shirt from COS is hitting all the right style notes – cotton rich for extra breezability, nostalgic stripe design, and a camp collar. I’d say this is gonna look best unbuttoned with a tee underneath for casual weekend vibes, but then again, buttoned-up with some neutral chinos and a loafer sounds pretty good too.”

Straight-leg Mid-Length Irregular Botanical Printed Recycled Swim Shorts by Mr P

“Summer is forever the time to add some fun to your wardrobe, and poolside is definitely the place to try out some prints. These vintage-inspired printed swim shorts from Mr P. come in a straight leg and mid-length fit for extra comfort, and the muted pattern is subtle enough that you can also wear them away from the pool too. Plus, they’re also made with recycled materials for bonus sustainability brownie points.
