Our stylist-curated Mother's Day guide

Our stylist-curated Mother's Day guide

We don’t know about you, but we’ve been feeling a certain spark in the air lately. The days are getting warmer and many in-person get-togethers are back on the agenda but, most importantly, it’s almost time to celebrate the person who gave you your existence (biological or otherwise): your mother. That fact alone might be enough for you to spoil her rotten, but after the year it’s been, there’s even more reason to shower her with the material form of your love – beautiful gifts.

And while that may sound like a burdensome task, it needn’t be. Our Styling Lead Amy Ackerley has done the hard work for you when it comes to finding the perfect present – and don’t worry, none of them involves the usual chocolates or flowers.

1. Oliver Bonas signet ring

“If she’s anything like me, she wouldn’t usually buy special jewellery for herself. That’s why this statement ring makes such a lovely gift. It’s the intricate engraving and sparkling clear gem that makes this one stand out for me.”

2. Pernille Corydon earrings

“I’m a big fan of these earrings from Pernille Corydon – they’re just so timeless. This also makes them a great option when you’re not sure what she likes. With their classic gold hoop and elegant freshwater pearl, you really can’t go wrong,” Amy says.

3. Hobbs chain bracelet

Here’s another style you can’t go wrong with: a classic chain bracelet. This Hobbs’ design will add a touch of elegance to her everyday looks – and you can take full credit for it.

1. Joules cardigan

Show mom the art of statement spring layering with this cheery yellow cardigan from Joules. “The bright daffodil shade of this knit feels quite timely as we move into spring. It’s just the thing for brightening up her day (and her wardrobe),” Amy says.

2. Chinti and Parker jumper

You can, quite literally, send her the love with this ‘L’amour’ knit from Chinti and Parker. Word has it that the brand took style cues from ‘60s It-girl Françoise Hardy when designing it. Tell your mom that, and she’ll probably love it even more.

3. Baukjen Freja jumper

You can treat mom while doing your part for the environment thanks to the Freja jumper from Baukjen. It’s crafted from Greencash – a blend of recycled yarns including wool and cashmere – and makes a lovely knit for pairing with her denim this spring.

1. Gant colourblock silk scarf

“Scarves aren’t just for winter – this luxury pure-silk scarf will keep her outfits looking chic all year round. What’s even better is that she can wear it around the neck, twirled into her hair, or tied to a bag, so it’s basically a three-in-one gift.”

2. Boden Eze sunglasses

“The recent fool’s spring has got us thinking more and more of sunny weather, so a pair of sunglasses make a timely gift right now. With their chunky squared frame and subtle ombré lenses, this Boden pair feel contemporary cool yet classic – and who doesn’t want that?”

3. Stella McCartney Falabella card holder

“As we start thinking about all of the nice things we can start using again as lockdown restrictions ease, why not treat mom to something a little luxe? This Stella McCartney cardholder will slot nicely into her bag, and reveal cool chain detailing when she pulls it out.”

1. Bella Freud Candle

In the midst of a pandemic, it’s the little touches, like a comforting scented candle, that can really go a long way in elevating your home environment – something we’re sure your mom will appreciate. “This candle captures the essence of the artist’s studio, with notes of woody cedar, oil paints, and lilacs. It’s both soothing and nostalgic.”

2. HKliving fruit bowl

It might be hard not to keep this HKLiving fruit bowl for yourself since it makes such a lovely centre-piece for a dining table. Maybe buy one for yourself just in case.

3. Aesop hand soap

“Washing your hands has never looked so good. Mom can swap skin-drying anti-bac for something a little more hydrating thanks to Aesop – it'll also happen to look really good next to her faucet.
