MODEL WEARS MEDIUM: 5ft 9" // 41" Chest // 32" Waist
Our Pioneers wanted a high quality fabric, with some movement and stretch and a slightly longer cut than your traditional denim jacket.
By intruding pockets to the main body of the jacket, we were able to lengthen the cut so it is more like a Chore. The lengthened cut creates a more stylish silhouette and can be worn like a shirt, or as a top layer for warmer months. We’ve carried the pencil pocket, triple stitching and double buttons cuffs across from the canvas RYDER and introduced a yellow stitching and nickel buttons to contrast with the indigo.
Like all great denim products, this is the start of the RYDER’s journey. The more time you give this piece, the better it will look. The patina will set in around the heavily worn areas and fades will become apparent on the elbows creating amazing ‘honeycomb’ effects.
I've finally found the perfect denim jacket

Our clothing defines us
Whoever we are, our clothing defines us, it unites us and it should be built to withstand all that life brings us.
The RYDER Denim jacket is a result of nearly 200 years of history, from early Pioneers in the Gold Rush through to the modern-day man. Each telling a story through their craft and influencing cultures along the way.
From this point onwards, every major denim brand went on to design and create variants of this silhouette in the form of a ‘Railroad’ for rail workers which was in fact tested by labourers for its durability. And a shorter cut ‘Cowboy / Ranch’ jacket that included angled pockets for ease when riding a horse, and a thicker waistband to prevent it from lifting up.
Like all of the &SONS collection, these jackets had a purpose and a reason to exist. So as the era of the denim jacket continued, more and more designs were introduced. Probably one of the most famous creations was the Storm Rider Jacket which was lined with an Alaskan blanket and finished with a cord collar and cuffs for extra warmth.
It was later on that we came to know the ’Trucker’ jacket which was distinguishable by a more tailored fit, double pockets on the breast and often made from pre-washed denim rather than the traditional raw used on earlier models.
Throughout time the Denim Jacket has made appearances in every decade. Often with the same blueprint, but styled out using paint, embroidery, heavy hardware and a complete spectrum of washes, from bleach through to raw denim. Worn by icons of these eras that creates an incredible timeline of fashion through the eyes of our hard-wearing, heritage hero.
Since then, denim has become one of the most widely used fabrics across all styles and genres of fashion…
These stories inspire us as a brand and lead us to create garments that will one day tell their own story. Battle scars and fades we collect are like trophies, worn with pride.
Contrasting denim with muted tones can give you more to work with as we guys enter the season of shorts and T’s. Grab your favourite pair of &SONS chinos, roll up the cuffs and add a basic white T to get a simple Spring style. Finish with our woodcut bandana in a simple knot or with one of our new toggles
If it’s sharper layers you’re looking for then introduce our YARD shirt and a pair of our Virgil Chino to complete a look that’s ideal for social and studio life.
